A Welcome Message
from the President
 Dear
Colleagues:
Welcome to the website of the Professional
and Organizational Development Network in Higher Education
(POD). Our membership (nearly 1,600 at the moment) includes
faculty, academic administrators, staff of academic support
centers, faculty development, evaluation, and assessment
professionals, and many others interested in enhancing the
quality of teaching and learning, and supporting the community
of teachers and learners in higher education.
We come from a wide array of disciplinary
backgrounds, institutional types, and geographical locations,
and our members represent higher education institutions from
across the world. Out of this rich diversity, we come together
to address our shared passion for excellence in education
Please take some
time to explore the wealth of resources available through POD
and our website (currently being upgraded and expanded to
provide even more resources and information). I hope that you
will find useful material here, and that you will join the POD
listserve, a very active and collegial site where you can always
find a lively discussion or an answer to a question. I
especially invite you to attend our annual conference and to
submit a paper, or to get involved in any one of the other
POD-sponsored regional, national and international opportunities
that link and support faculty developers from around the world.
If you have attended a POD conference, you know that warmth,
collegiality, and a spirit of sharing are hallmarks of the POD
experience. We learn from each other and our conference is
designed to support that learning.
